a computer network is a group of computer systems and other computing hardwares devices that are linked together through communication channels to facilite communications and resource - sharing among a wide range of users . Networks are commonly categorized based on their characterstics .

most common resources shared today is connection to the internet . other shared resources can include a printer or a file server .

Client Server Model :

We know that a network consists of two or more computer intended to share resources is a computer network . Now the question arises that how to connect various computers to form a network . So Guys Don't worry I will tell about this very clearly now come on the point there is a way to connect the computers into a network i.e. that means client server model . A client server network is a communications model in which multiple client programs share the services of a common server program . a system where two or more computers are connected to central computer to share or use resource and that central computer is known as server is a client server network model .
name of client server model is because the central computer serves all the resources to its connected computer called clients .

a server performs all the major operations like security and network management .
All The clients communicate with each other via centralized server .
If client 1 wants to send data to client 2 , it first send request to server to seek permission for it.

if server is destroyed then various clients does not work .
requires specialized servers with large memory and secondary storage . this leads to increase in the cost .

Peer To Peer Network :

a peer to peer network is group of computers , each of which acts as a node for sharing files within the group . instead of having a central server to acts as the server for the files stored upon it . when a peer to peer network is established over internet , a central server can be used for indexing files , or a distributed network can be established where the sharing of files is split between all the users in the network that are storing a given file . in peer to peer network all peers means computers are connected each other via internet . files can be shared directly between systems on the network without the need of central server . hence each computer on peer to peer network becomes a file server as well as client . When A node enters in the peer to peer system , it must register the services it will providing , into a centrallized lookup services on the network . when a node desires for any specific services out which node will provide the desired services .

all resources and content are shared by all the peers .
failure of one peer does not affect any peer .
no need of full time system administrator .

Disadvantages Of Peer to peer network model :

whole system is decentralized thus it is difficult to administor .
security in this system is very less .
data recovery or backup is very difficult .
viruses , spyware , trojans , etc malware can easily transmitted over this architecture .
